Our businesses might be about energy; but ScottishPower is really about
people. Our people do many different things some are at the leading
edge of renewable energy generation through exciting new technologies.
Others manage the network that distributes energy across the UK and all
take pride in providing an excellent service to our customers as we supply
energy to their homes and businesses. The diversity of our people is recognised
and valued . We recognise that we are part of the wider community and
the business and our people make a significant investment in it. Our vision
is to become the best integrated power provider and a world leader in
renewables. At the heart of this are the people whose individual efforts
and performance will help ScottishPower make it happen.
WPD is the electricity distribution company for South West England and
South and West Wales. We deliver electricity to 2.5 million customers
over a 26,000 sq kms service area. Western Power Distribution employs
in the region of 2,500 people throughout South West England and South
and West Wales. Although our skills are diverse, ranging from professional,
clerical and administrative support roles to highly trained craftspeople
who work on our extensive network, we all aim to maintain the high quality
service we provide to our 2.5 million customers.
Drax Power Limited owns and operates Drax Power Station, the largest,
cleanest and most efficient coal-fired power station in the UK. The output
capacity of our six generators is 4,000 megawatts, and we currently provide
enough power to meet 7% of the UK's electricity needs.
Against this contribution we make every effort to balance our commitment
to the country's energy needs with minimising environmental impacts on
land, air and water. Our generating units are fitted with flue gas desulphurisation
(FGD) equipment removing 90% of the sulphur dioxide (SO2) from emissions,
and work is underway to reduce still further emissions of oxides of nitrogen
(NOX). At the same time, by-products of the coal combustion and FGD processes
are recycled through their further use in the construction industry.
As a competitive, global organisation, British Nuclear Group offers employees

npower renewables is one of the UK's leading renewable energy companies,
dedicated to generating electricity using sustainable, environmentally-friendly
resources. It has a wide ranging portfolio that includes both onshore
and offshore wind farms, hydro plant and co-firing biomass operated through
our parent company RWE npower. Utilising these natural resources provides
significant sources of power for the UK's present and future electricity
needs.
Through our existing projects and those in development, we are already
working in close partnership with communities and companies around the
UK. In addition, through the npower Juice Fund, we are involved in research
to harness the power of waves and tides - another source of clean, sustainable
electricity generation.
